Rules of Gin Rummy:
Objective: The goal is to form sets (three or four of a kind) and runs (three or more consecutive cards of the same suit) from the 10 cards dealt to each player.
Gameplay:
At the start of the game, 10 cards are dealt to each player, and the remaining deck is placed face down with the top card turned face up to start the discard pile.
Players take turns drawing a card either from the stock pile or the discard pile and then discarding a card.
Players aim to reduce the point value of the cards in their hand by forming sets and runs.
Knocking: A player can end the round by "knocking" if their unmatched cards have a total value of 10 points or less. This player lays down their sets and runs, and the opponent does the same.
Scoring:
The knocking player earns points based on the difference between their unmatched cards and their opponent's unmatched cards.
If the knocking player has a lower or equal total of unmatched card points, they win the round.
If the knocking player has a higher total of unmatched card points, the opponent wins the round (this is called an "undercut").
Winning the Game: The game continues until a player reaches a predetermined score, typically 100 points.
