Epic Seven Successor Taeyou Guide - Everything You Need To Know
Moonlight Taeyou is a 5* Light Warrior hero that excels at being a second opener to debuff the enemies and immediately eliminating a dangerous enemy right at the start of the battle to help mitigate the enemies’ threat when his conditions are met.
Successor Taeyou Skill Kit Analysis
Successor Taeyou’s skill kit revolves mainly around 3 different effects - Fighting Spirit, Combat Readiness Manipulation, and the Possession buff.
Successor Taeyou’s main skill is his 2nd skill passive, which is active throughout the fight when certain conditions are met. During the fight, Successor Taeyou will have a Fighting Spirit gauge, which can be filled whenever an ally or Successor Taeyou himself decreases enemies’ Combat Readiness. The more Combat Readiness is decreased from all enemies, the more Fighting Spirit Successor Taeyou will gain, to a maximum of 100 Fighting Spirit. Once his Fighting Spirit has reached 100, Successor Taeyou will receive 100% Combat Readiness himself, allowing him to take action right away and grants him the Possession buff for 2 turns.
Successor Taeyou’s 3rd skill allows him to decrease the defense of all enemies with a 75% success chance, allowing him to massively lower all enemies’ defense and make it easier for him to deal with them. When soulburnt, this effect will ignore effect resistance, allowing him to land the debuff easier. Additionally, when used, his 3rd skill will grant Successor Taeyou Invincibility for 3 turns and an extra turn, allowing him to take action yet again.
Successful Taeyou’s main damage source is his 1st skill, which allows him to deal guaranteed critical damage to 1 enemy and decrease their combat readiness. When granted Possessed, this skill effect to decrease enemies’ combat readiness will be removed in exchange for higher damage output, penetrating the enemies’ defense by 50%.
Successor Taeyou Playstyle
With all the skills detailed explained, Successor Taeyou playstyle is quite an interesting playstyle that allows players to have a decent amount of flexibility when building him.
Successor Taeyou’s main playstyle revolves around making him a secondary opener for the team and a powerful damage dealer when he gets his 3rd skill ability off. Firstly, players will need to have a hero that decreases the enemies’ combat readiness by a good amount to allow Successor Taeyou to gather Fighting Spirit to maximum, gains the Possessed buff and immediately takes his turn after receiving 100% combat readiness increase.
Once it is his turn, players will need to use his 3rd skill to remove enemies’ buffs and soften the enemies’ defense by inflicting them with the defense down debuff. After using the skill, he will also gain 3 turns of invincibility and an extra turn, which players should take advantage of and use his 1st skill to attack a weakened enemy with his enhanced S1, dealing massive damage and potentially defeating them outright.
Finally, after his S2 and S3 combo, Successor Taeyou will be protected with invincibility and have the Possessed buff, which allows him to counterattack whenever he is hit by a critical hit for the next turn, allowing him to take enemies’ attacks and counterattack.

Successor Taeyou Best Builds & Statlines
There are several considerations for players who want to build Successor Taeyou due to this immensely interesting skill kit.
For once, due to the nature of him being able to receive a 100% combat readiness increase and him wanting to be hit by enemies to counterattack once he has finished his 2nd and 3rd skills combo, it is highly recommended that players do not invest too much into his speed stat. This allows him to be decently slow, allowing enemies more actions to hit him and allow him to counterattacks.
In addition, due to his 1st skill of always dealing critical hits when successfully hitting the enemies, players do not need to invest into his critical rate. Instead players should put as much Critical Damage on him as possible.
Aside from that, Successor Taeyou would benefit greatly from offensive stats like Attack and some bulk in HP and Defense to allow him to live longer from enemies attacks. Crucially, players need to invest into Successor Taeyou’s Effect Resistance stat so that his Invincibility buff doesn’t get removed by enemies.
Some recommended equipment sets combo that players can consider for Successor Taeyou includes:
- Bulky build: Destruction Set (4 pieces) + Resist Set (2 pieces): General Build for consistent damage and bulk
- Enemy One Shot build: 2 Torrent Sets (2 pieces) + Pen Set (2 pieces): Immense damage build used to guarantee 1 shot an enemy at the start.
