2025-04-17

Together with the release of Epic Seven fancy brand new version - Epic Seven: Origin that tells the story of the old 6th world with a ton of interesting and amazing gameplay events and features for players to experience, it is quite important for players have a good understanding of how the team building aspect in Epic Seven works in order to quickly get through the game.

Team building in Epic Seven are often used mainly when players are tackling the 2 main types of contents in Epic Seven: PvP and PvE, with the PvE contents focusing mainly on building teams to allow players to clear the Hunt contents, Labyrinth and even Rift endgame content, while PvP contents focusing on the Arena and RTA contents.

In this guide, we will go over all the considerations players need to pay attention to in order to make the best teams for both PvE and PvP contents and show players some of the most meta teams currently in the game for all of the PvE and PvP contents so that they can have a good example to follow and make the best team comp possible for Epic Seven.

Epic Seven Team Building - Everything You Need To Know

A team in Epic Seven consists of 4 different distinct heroes, deployed in a 4 grid formation, each with their own unique skills and ability depending on how their skill kit works. When building such a team for both PvE and PvP contents, there are some considerations players need to know in advance in order to take full advantage of the game’s various intricate mechanics.

Team Positioning & Action Order

The team position in Epic Seven is divided mainly into 3 different positions: The Front Row, The Middle and The Backrow, with the Middle consisting of 2 hero slots and The Front Row and The Back Row consisting of 1 hero slot each.

In normal gameplay and in PvE specifically, heroes deployed on the Front Row will have an increased chance of receiving enemies’ attacks, while heroes from the middle and back row won’t be affected by this increased aggro. Meanwhile, in some of the contents in the game, there will be specific buffs for heroes in the front row and back row in the hero formation.

Due to this fact, it is highly recommended that players put the tanker or damage mitigating hero at the front row, while the DPS puts the frail hero at the back row when forming a team. Additionally, it is important to note that the action order in a fight is only based on the heroes’ speed stat and not their formation, so the team formation doesn’t affect the actual in battle action order.

Hero Memory Imprint Effect

Another thing players need to consider when building a team and placing heroes in a formation is the different Hero Memory Imprint Effects. Each hero, when merged with their own additional copies, can activate their Hero Memory Imprint effect, which provides stats to other heroes on the team whenever they are deployed onto the same team as the hero with Hero Memory Imprint Effect.

The Memory Imprint Effect is active for specific formation positions on the team and provides specific stats onto the heroes deployed onto those positions in the team. Therefore, if players have heroes with Hero Memory Imprint Effects active, they should be careful to deploy other heroes onto different team positions to take full advantage of the different Hero Memory Imprint Effect.

Aside from providing different team members with stats through Hero Memory Imprints, heroes can also gain special stats themselves by activating their Imprint Concentration, which provides the hero themselves with special stats only for themselves.

Epic Seven Team Building - Best Teams For PvP & PvE Contents

For PvE Content - Hunt

Hunt is one of the game’s most important content as it will provide players with important equipment to build characters with, therefore, having good teams for Hunt content is extremely important. The usual best teams for the 5 Hunt contents in the game includes:

- Wyvern:

  • For Beginners: Players should focus on making a consistent team for Wyvern Easy and Hard, for example: Furious (Defense breaker) + Muwi (AoE Attacker) + Brieg (Defensive Tank/ Additional Defense Breaker) + Sigret (Big Damage DPS)

  • For Veterans: Players can make a one shot team for Wyvern, focusing on bursting down Wyvern Hell with dual attacks:  Sinful Angelica (Immortality Tank/ Dual Attack Enabler) + Camilla (Dual Attack Enabler) + Ken (Defense Breaker/ Dual Attack Enabler) + Rem/ Aria (Strong Normal Attack DPS/ AoE Attacker)

- Banshee:

  • For both Beginner & Veterans: Banshee hunt is relatively easy to make team for as long as players can have a good AoE Attacker and debuffer: Vivian (Buffer/ DPS) + Leo (Defense Breaker/ Debuffer) + Baiken/ Gala Lilias/ Ervalen ( Strong Single Target DPS) + 1 Flexible slot.

For PvE Content - Rift

For Rift team building content, the team building is mainly heavily reliant on the different hunt seasons and the different boss mechanism depending on the Rift season.

For the current Rift Season, the best team for Rift content includes: Fennie (DPS/ Healer) + 3 3* Heroes With Flat Attack Memory Imprint.

This team allows Fennie to essentially solo the boss by herself allowing players to obtain rewards from the Rift season.

For PvE Content - Story & Side Story Farming

The final form of PvE farming content that players will need to form a good team for in order to farm quickly is the Main Story and Side Story farming for Stigma and AP points to exchange for hero upgrading catalysts and more.

Generally speaking, for Main Story and Side Story Farming, you should bring as many AoE Attackers as possible so that the team can sweep through the enemy waves as quickly as possible. When against stages with bosses, bringing a good boss killing single target DPS character will also be a good idea. Some recommended AoE DPSes players can bring include: Vildred, Arbiter Vildred,Bellona, Seaside Bellona, etc.

For PvP Content - Arena

Arena is one of the most important PvP content for players, as it will provide players with skystones every week depending on their ranking and status, making it a good source of passive income if players want to obtain resources to roll for characters in Epic Seven.

Generally speaking, the Arena teams in Epic Seven can be divided into 2 different categories of teams:

- Cleave teams: This type of team heavily relies on taking advantage of the most speedy characters in the game in order to go before the enemy team and overwhelm them with as much fire power as possible. The general team composition for this includes: A Primary Opener (Zio/ ML Politis/ Lidica/ ML Luna) + A Secondary Opener (ML Roana/ ML Aramintha/ Yufine/ Jack’O) + A buffer/protector (Frida/ ML Senya/ML Tywin) + A main AoE DPS (ML Ludwig/ Blood Blade Karin/ Jenua/ etc.)

- Bruiser teams: This type of team heavily relies on using a bunch of powerful and tanky units that scales their attacks with their defensive stats like Defense or Health to stay on the field as long as possible and deal damage to enemies gradually, prolonging the fight and turns the fight in your favor simply through bulk and survivability. Some strong units to bring to this type of team includes: Strong Defensive Based DPS (ML Senya/ Albedo/ Knight Captain Krau/ Belian) + Units With Strong Damage Mitigation and Buffs (ML Ilynav/ Krau/ SC Arowell) + Strong Healers (Diene/ Destina/ Ruele of Light/ Maid Chloe) + Units with powerful passives and buffs that allow them to survive as long as possible (ML Celine/ Mortelix/ Young Senya/ Tori).

For PvP Content - RTA (Real Time Arena)

Unlike Arena where the enemy team is controlled by an AI, Real Time Arena pits players against one another in real time, with a ban and pick mechanic that restricts certain heroes before you can make a team. This makes it so that you will need to carefully consider your team composition before the opponent gets the chance to pick the hero you want, making it harder to form a team in RTA in general.

The general rule of thumb for team building in RTA is to pick and counter according to the enemies’ team picks. Most of the time, you won’t be able to make a complete team with all the units you want due to the Ban mechanic, therefore, pay close attention to what the enemy is picking and choose the appropriate counter units while completing your team.

Synergy and counters are the lifeblood of RTA team building, so players need to be aware of each of the heroes abilities before going into this gamemode, making it the hardest possible game mode for players to get into.
