How do you move the cat?

To make this game, I've set a constraint, the player can only use the space key to move around. The cat has a constant speed and moves either vertically or horizontally.
Each time you press the space key, the direction changes.

How do I know which direction the cat will go if I press the space bar?

The cat will go back to the direction it was going before the previous change of direction.
