Blackjack is a popular card game, also known as 21. The goal of the game is to beat the dealer by compiling a combination of cards, the total number of points of which will be closer to 21 than the dealer's, but will not exceed this number.

The game begins with each player being dealt two cards, after which players make bets. They can take additional cards ("hit"), stay with the same cards ("stand"), double their initial bet and take another card ("double down"), split a pair into two separate hands ("split"), or surrender (in some versions of the game).

In blackjack, numerical cards are evaluated at face value, an ace can be counted as 1 or 11 depending on what is more beneficial to the player, and jack, queen, and king are counted as 10 points.

If a player has blackjack immediately after the deal (an ace and a card with a face value of 10), they automatically win, provided the dealer does not have blackjack. If a player's total points exceed 21, this is called 'bust' and the player loses.
