Zenless Zone Zero Vivian Guide - How To Best Play Vivian

2025-04-25

With the release of Zenless Zone Zero brand new version update patch 1.6 and the end of the 1st main story chapter of the game release, players will have the chance to encounter and roll for one of the most endearing and interesting characters in the game with a fantastic unique gameplay - The 5* Ether Anomaly Agent Vivian.

Vivian is one of the most endearing and interesting characters that Zenless Zone Zero have released as a playable character with a very unique skill kit and gameplay making her very fun to play around with and allow her to be a very strong character that players should consider rolling for in the game’s version 1.6 update.

However, due to how interesting her skill kit is and how strong she can be as an Anomaly character, many players might now be able to make full use of her abilities and skills, resulting in a decrease in her overall potential and strength.

Therefore, in this guide, we will go over everything players need to know about Vivian’s skill kit and playstyle and advise players on how they can best build Vivian in order to maximize her potential and damage output and make the best possible teams with her.

Zenless Zone Zero Vivian Skills & Playstyle - Everything You Need To Know

Vivian is a 5* Ether Anomaly Character that specializes in dealing damage with her normal attacks even when she is off the field, dealing Ether damage and accumulate the Ether Anomaly on enemies in order to trigger the Ether Anomaly Effect and trigger her own unique damaging status - Abloom.

Vivian’s Skill Kit

Vivian’s whole gimmick revolves around 3 different sets of effects, depending on her special stacks: Flight Feathers, Guard Feathers and her unique anomaly trigger, Abloom.

When Vivian attacks enemies on the field with her normal attacks and EX Special Attacks, she will deal Ether Damage to enemies, raising their Ether Anomaly gauge and gaining a certain amount of Flight feathers. Normal attacks will grant her 1 Flight feather, EX Special Attacks will grant her 3 Flight feathers and her Ultimate will grant her 5 Flight feathers, with a maximum of 5 Flight feathers can be held at the same time. Upon accumulating Flight feathers, Vivian will be able to use her parasol to fly up into the air to dodge enemies’ attacks and attack them from afar with her Normal attacks.

When Vivian has Flight Feathers, holding her normal attacks in mid air will allow her to convert her Flight Feathers into Guard Feathers stacks, with every 1 Flight Feathers being turnt into 1 Guard Feathers stack. When Vivian has Guard Feathers stacks, she will trigger her special Abloom effect.

Vivian’s Abloom is a special damaging effect that scales proportionally to her normal attack damage and can be triggered whenever Vivian herself or an ally triggers an Anomaly effect onto the enemy, with each Anomaly effect triggering 1 Abloom effect. This effect can be triggered even when Vivian is off field. The damage of the Abloom is scaled proportionally to the Anomaly Proficiency of the characters that contributes to the Anomaly Effect and Vivian’s own Anomaly Proficiency stat. Additionally, when Abloom is triggered, depending on the element of the Anomaly Effect, different damage scaling will be applied to the Abloom, increasing the damage of the Abloom effect further.

This skill kit makes it so that Vivian can be a very powerful off field Anomaly applicant unit whenever she gains enough Flight and Guard Feathers, allowing her to attack the enemies and trigger Anomaly effects even when she is not on the field. This also allows other Anomaly characters to take the field much longer and trigger more Anomaly Effects to trigger Vivian’s Abloom, dealing more damage.

Vivian’s Skill Playstyle & Rotation

When using Vivian on the field, players ideally would want to run her together with an additional Anomaly character in order to help boost the damage of Vivian and help trigger Anomaly effects more frequently.

Upon entering the fight, players should use Vivian’s normal attacks and EX Special Attacks to accumulate as many Flight Feathers for her as possible. Once she has gained enough Flight Feathers to enter her floating form, players should hold her Normal attacks in order to trigger her charge attack and convert Flight Feathers into Guard Feathers.

Once Vivian have gained her Guard Feathers, switch out into the other Anomaly character in the team and let them trigger as many Anomaly Effects as possible, dealing massive amounts of damage to the enemies and triggering Vivian’s Abloom effects, allowing her to supplement their damage as much as possible until her Guard Feather stacks runs out. Once the stacks are out, you can switch back to Vivian to use her attacks, EX Special Attack or Ultimate to regain as many Flight Feathers as possible before doing the rotation all over again.

Keep in mind that managing Vivian’s Guard Feathers stacks are extremely crucial when playing around with her, so players wouldn’t want to trigger too many anomalies too quickly when Vivian doesn’t have enough Guard Feathers stacks to trigger Abloom.

Zenless Zone Zero Vivian Best Builds - How To Build The Best Vivian

Vivian Best Disc Drives & Stats Requirements

As Vivian is a Anomaly Character that mostly do off field damage and doesn’t have much field time, she have a very unique requirements in terms of stats and Drive Discs Build

For Vivian’s Best Drive Discs, players should focus on using the 4 Pieces Set Phaethon’s Melody for Vivian to boost her overall Anomaly Proficiency, Anomaly Damage and Ether Damage whenever an ally uses their EX Special Attack. Combos this either 2 Piece Chaos Jazz or Freedom Blues in order to boost her Anomaly Proficiency even more.

In terms of Drive Disc main stats, players should focus on these stats:

- Disc 4: Anomaly Proficiency

- Disc 5: Atk% or Ether Damage%

- Disc 6: Anomaly Mastery%

For sub stats, players should focus on Attack %, Attack, Anomaly Proficiency and Pen stats, with a heavy emphasis on Anomaly Proficiency since she needs as much of the stats as possible. You don’t have to invest in her Energy Regeneration stat as Vivian does not take the field enough, allowing her more time to regenerate energy naturally when off field.

Vivian Best W-Engines

For Vivian, players should prioritize W-Engines that give her as much Attack% and Anomaly Proficiency stats as much as possible in order to boost her Anomaly Effect Damage and her Abloom damage.

For W-Engines, the best for her would be her signature W-Engines - Flight Of Fancy:

- Dissonan Sonata: Increase Anomaly Buildup by 40%. When the equipper deals Ether DMG, their Anomaly Proficiency increases by 20 for 5s, stacking up by 6 times. This effect can be triggered once every 0.5s, and repeated triggers resets the duration.

For alternatives, players should use the Battle Pass W-Engine - Electro-Lip Gloss, or the F2P W-Engine Weeping Gemini. Both of these W-Engines will grant Vivian a decently good boost in Anomaly Proficiency and Damage overall.

- Electro-Lip Gloss: When there are enemies inflicted with Attribute Anomaly on the field, the equipper's ATK increases by 10% and they deal an additional 15% more DMG to the target.

- Weeping Gemini: Whenever a squad member inflicts an Attribute Anomaly on an enemy, the equipper gains a buff that increases Anomaly Proficiency by 30, stacking up to 4 times. This effect expires when the target recovers from Stun or is defeated. The duration of each stack is calculated separately.

Vivian Best Teammates

As mentioned in her playstyle section, in order to best utilize Vivian in a team and maximize her damage potential, you will need to have a decently strong Anomaly character with strong on field ability that can trigger Anomaly Effects quickly in order to help Vivian trigger her Abloom effects. The best teammates to go with Vivian are:

- Yanagi: Yanagi is a strong contender as Vivian’s teammate thanks to her ability to quickly build up her Anomaly Gauge and trigger the Shock Anomaly Effect. Additionally, she can trigger 2 Ablooms effects at the same time since she can trigger Disorder by herself, using up 2 of Vivian’s stacks at the same time.

Zenless Zone Zero Vivian Guide 13

- Burnice: Burnice is a decently good contender for this spot as she can quickly spend her fuels to raise her anomaly gauge to trigger burn on the enemy. In addition, Abloom modifiers for Burn Anomaly Effect are the highest among the elements, making it really strong.

Zenless Zone Zero Vivian Guide 14

- Miyabi: As the game’s strongest Anomaly character, Miyabi would go really well for Vivian as her teammate. However, due to Miyabi mixed stats and low Anomaly Proficiency, the Abloom damage from Vivian won’t be too high when Miyabi triggers an Anomaly effect.

Zenless Zone Zero Vivian Guide 15

- Jane/ Piper: Jane or Piper are good contenders for this Anomaly spot as Vivian’s teammates as well. However, they are only good when expertly built simply due to how their kit works.
